The last 7 1/2 years straight, she was going thru every treatment option possible and still filling those years of sickness and weakness and struggle with LIFE. And now that she is gone, like strikingly, GONE, I find myself ravenous for stories, pictures and videos to keep her alive in my memory and to learn even more about her. (If you have any of the above, please do share) I could list what I love about her for one billion years, but here are the first few that come to mind: her HUMOR. Sometimes dry, sometimes goofy, sometimes biting, sometimes too biting, but always with love (and maybe an apologetic phone call the next day). But she always traversed the ups and downs with a joke and a smile. Even in the indignity of getting sick: recently after receiving a suppository from the hospice nurse, she lightly and sarcastically said, "What a wonderful, glorious, and ultimately warm experience that was.” Her laughter will be MISSED.Her LISTENING. When she went back to school to get her M.F.T. after Brad & I were out of high school, it made so much sense; for years she had always given me the best free therapy. She would listen to me and see me and give me hard truths and give me good advice and share her brilliant instincts. Her RESILIENCE. This beautiful woman put up with an unthinkable amount of doctor appointments, hospital stays, emergency room visits, chemotherapy infusions, brain radiations, difficult health decisions, etc etc etc and not only did she defy odds physically (one doctor referred to her as an “outlier”), but she always kept her humor, calm, buoyancy and authentic positivity. This is crazy and surreal and awful and you can’t know what it’s like until you’re in it. In one of the many moments of beauty we had over the past few months, Brad, Hailey & I were saying goodnight to her and the clouds parted and she just started shooting love arrows at our chests. She said, “From wherever I am, I’m going to be CHEERING YOU ON. Because God loves you so much, but I'm gonna beat him. I'm gonna love you MORE.” I love you, Mom. I miss you, Mom." | Zootzle
