This video is a hard watch.ICE follows a DoorDash driver to a home where a woman, a man, and a baby live. Agents start circling the property with their hands on their weapons. This is the day after Renee Good was shot and killed in Minneapolis. With the vice president threatening that ICE will start going door to door (ahem, sound familiar?), it is of utmost importance that you stay regulated and understand your rights if you are faced with a moment like this.Take a deep breath and be the person who brings the calm. These agents are not good at de-escalation.Thereâs a moment in this video where the Sheriff suggests to the owner that she could be accused of Harboring for not turning the woman over at ICEâs request. So I want to clarify the law.The harboring statute requires that you know or recklessly disregard that someone is undocumented and that you are actively shielding them from law enforcement. That is not whatâs happening here.In this video, the woman repeatedly says the driver has legal status and a driverâs license. Even if you donât know someoneâs status, demanding a judicial warrant is still your right.Requiring a warrant signed by a judge is not harboring.Having someone inside your home is not harboring.Kudos to this woman for standing her ground. Know your rights. | Kate Lincoln-Goldfinch | Zootzle
