Zootzle IntelligenceAndrew Huberman, Ph.D. on Instagram: "COMPLETE FITNESS PROTOCOL(S)-Peoples goals vary but quality science tells us that we need both cardiovascular exercise and resistance training in order to maintain and improve our physical health. Physical exercise also dramatically improves mental health. -There are many excellent exercise routines out there, but one that has worked very well for me for more than two decades is to alternate days of cardiovascular training with days of resistance training. -The issue then becomes how to target muscles for resistance twice per week while also getting the cardiovascular training and also not limiting your recovery. The key is in the organization of the various workouts, and limiting the intensity and duration and cycling it.-The schedule shown here includes direct and indirect work, such that all those goals are met, including meeting key thresholds for cardiovascular exercise. It is meant as an all-around routine given that most people are not seeking extreme results in one area, such as endurance, or strength and hypertrophy, but rather are looking for overall ability to be strong and have endurance, balanced musculature, aesthetics etc.-Details on logic, modifiable variables, the science behind the design, exercise choices, cycling sets, reps, intensity, flexibility work and customization all time stamped, at hubermanlab.com Simply go to the “COMPLETE FITNESS” episode. Zero cost to access it of course.-Everything is timestamped so you can navigate to the topics most of interest to you. I also include mention of how to incorporate flexibility training, why I limit each resistance training session to 60min of hard work, how to incorporate the long cardio into social activity using a weight vest, how to do heat-cold without a sauna or ice bath, etc. as well.-Please put your questions in the comments section below this post and as always, thank you for your interest in science!-@hubermanlab @stanford.med @stanford @nihgov @nimhgov @nih_nccih @societyforneuroscience @cellpress-#neuroscience #science #ciencia #neurociencia #fitness #endurance #strength #hypertrophy #flexibility #speed #power #mentalhealth #physicalhealth #learn #neural" | Zootzle
