The Shade Room on Instagram: "A family is devastated and seeking answers after receiving the news that 35-year-old #LashawnThompson died while in custody at an #Atlanta prison, as a result of getting eaten alive by bed bugs. Thompson’s family claims that other than a schizophrenia diagnosis, he had no pre-existing health conditions prior to his arrival at #FultonCountyJail in June of 2022. His family also revealed that not only did Thompson’s health rapidly decline over the three-month period that he was in custody, but his autopsy photos revealed hundreds of bed bug bites all over his body. Bites that his family claim were the result of Thompson being forced to stay in a filthy bug-infested cell. It’s been reported that between 2009 and October 2022, 64 people held in the Fulton County Jail have died; the highest total for any jail in #Georgia in that time span.
