VICE News on Instagram: "Big Tech leaders from Meta, TikTok, and X were summoned by the U.S. Congress for questioning over child safety on their platforms. But when it came time for Republican Senator Tom Cotton to ask questions, he repeatedly probed TikTok CEO Shou Zi Chew, who is Singaporean, about being Chinese and part of the “Chinese Communist Party.”“Have you ever been a member of a Chinese Community Party,” Cotton asked. “Senator, I’m Singaporean, no,” Chew responded. Cotton went on to ask about his “associations” with the Chinese Community Party to which Chew, once again responded, “No Senator, again, I’m Singaporean.” The exchange continued for almost a minute, with Cotton pushing along the same line of questioning. Chew stated that he served the Singaporean military for several years, a mandatory duty for male citizens in the nation, and that he held a Singaporean passport." | Zootzle
