Zootzle Intelligence*Dirty Diaper Assault Defendant Found Guilty*GIBSON COUNTY, TN—On Monday, April 6, 2026, after a jury trial in Humboldt Law Court of Gibson County, Sharandal Mitchell (40) was found guilty of Assault – Offensive Contact, a Class B misdemeanor under Tennessee law. Mitchell will be sentenced in July by the Honorable Circuit Court Judge Clayburn Peeples. On March 30, 2024, Mitchell, was working as a Licensed Practical Nurse contracted through Shiftkey at Medina Christian Care Nursing Home. Mitchell was reported by a coworker for refusing to provide care for a patient experiencing a prolonged nosebleed and for failing to administer prescribed medications to patients under her care.Facility management instructed Mitchell to return her medication cart keys and leave the premises for failing to fulfill her duties. She refused and began acting erratically, blaming the coworker for contacting management. This behavior prompted staff to contact law enforcement. Officers responded and waited approximately two hours while Mitchell still refused to leave and counted medication in her cart.During that time, Mitchell entered a patient’s room where the coworker was present. Mitchell put on gloves, picked up a used adult diaper containing urine and feces, grabbed the coworker by the hair, and smeared the diaper on her face. The coworker pushed Mitchell away in self-defense. Mitchell was then taken into custody by officers on scene."We would like to thank the jurors for their service, the Medina Police Department for their investigation, and the victim, for her assistance throughout the court process. We are pleased with the jury's decision to hold Mitchell accountable after committing this vile and unsafe act in a healthcare facility. While misdemeanor cases rarely proceed to a jury trial, we are committed to pursuing justice with the same diligence as we would in a felony prosecution”. -Frederick H.
