Kevin Parker on Instagram: "Because so many of you have kindly reached out asking me to consider a run for Congress, I wanted to address this question. Your texts and calls mean so much.I hope our country evolves from monologues, to dialogues. Only meaningful dialogues can address the real and deep problems our country faces. Dialogue is important, because often times, both sides have the partial answer. I wish we employed more question marks in our conversations and used less periods when discussing matters of importance. America needs to start talking again, and that begins with each of us. It begins around our kitchen tables and in our neighborhoods. Judgementalism Is the cancer of our country. The other side (whichever side you’re on) isn’t the enemy, the only enemy is the vast aray of challenges facing our country. When we learn to start talkingl again.I want you to know that I am not seeking a seat In the United States Congress. With my kids in their last few years at home, I need to be on the sidelines and at their soccer, golf, and football games. At the end of the day, I suspect my personal impact is greater working with some of America’a most promising politicians from across the country through the Rodel Institute (born in the Aspen Institute) than entering the public arena again myself. Although I loved my time in the state legislature, and later served for two years as the senior advisor to Congresswoman McMorris Rodgers in the U.S. House, I don’t anticipate ever seeking public office again. It was truly the honor of a lifetime serving you. I mean this from the bottom of my heart. You trusted me to serve you, and the further away I get from public office, I realize how special this arrangement was. Thank you for believing in me for eight years. I am eternally grateful to you, and this opportunity you gave a kid like me. You took a chance on me, and I hope I made you proud. I hope you know I listened to you, and I learned a lot from you. I am a deeper person as a result of hearing your stories.I truly believe our best days are ahead, but ONLY if we start talking to one another again." | Zootzle
